Eight Players Named to All-Conference Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Led by Katavious Taylor, who found himself on the All-Heart South First Team for the second straight season, eight members of the Central Methodist football team were recognized as a member of the Heart South All-Conference teams.

The Eagle defense was well-represented, with Will Miles (2nd), Malcolm Elmore (2nd), Mar'Quess Daniels (2nd), Dalton King (Honorable Mention), and Demonte Bellinger (Honorable Mention) all finding a spot on the list.

Jordan Williams (2nd) and Damontay Allen (Honorable Mention) joined Taylor as members of the Eagle offense to make the list.

In just seven games, Taylor nabbed 37 receptions for 722 yards and 12 touchdowns. The big-play threat ranked second in the Heart for receiving touchdowns. Williams was a big beneficiary of Taylor's dominance, as the quarterback completed 59% of his passes for 2,183 yards and 16 touchdowns. The swift-footed Williams also rushed for 349 yards and 11 touchdowns. Allen, who was named Second Team All-Heart South a season ago, led the Eagles with a team-high 53 receptions. He recorded 427 yards receiving to go along with two touchdowns.

Miles recovered from an injury that limited his playing time a season ago to become a dominant force on the defensive line. He recorded 38 tackles, including a team-high 15.5 tackles for loss, to go along with a team-high four forced fumbles and four blocked kicks. Elmore finally earned All-Conference recognition after a remarkable career in the defensive backfield at Central Methodist. The senior recorded 58 tackles to go along with a team-high four interceptions.

In his first season as an Eagle, Daniels was a welcome addition to the linebacker group, picking up 60 tackles. He also had 9.5 tackles for loss, a team-high four sacks, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles. King excelled on the opposite end of the line from Miles, recording 70 tackles and six tackles for loss. Bellinger played lockdown corner for the Eagles opposite Elmore, picking up 25 tackles and eight pass break-ups.

Central Methodist finished the season with a record of 5-5-1, the most wins for the program since going 6-5 in 2014.
