OLATHE, Kan. — The Central Methodist football team fell behind early and couldn't complete a fourth-quarter comeback, falling 38-30 to MidAmerica Nazarene on Saturday.
The defeat dropped Central Methodist to 4-6 on the season.
Dante Vandeven (SR/Jackson, Mo.) completed 14 passes for 270 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 71 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown.
Kaylon Johnson (JR/Memphis, Tenn.) also scored a rushing touchdown, part of his 19-carry, 81-yard effort.
Katavious Taylor (SO/Memphis, Tenn.) led the receiving corps with six catches and 115 yards. Kooper Wilson (FR/Versailles, Mo.) and Garan Evans (SR/Cape Girardeau, Mo.) both nabbed long touchdown passes from Vandeven.
Sam Petrin made a field goal and Nathan Hampton (SR/Sikeston, Mo.) punted three times for 100 yards, including a long of 54.
Defensively, the Eagles were led by Malcolm Elmore (JR/Higginsville, Mo.) and Erik Mays (SO/Marshall, Mo.), who each secured an interception. Dalton King (JR/Fredericktown, Mo.) led Central Methodist with nine tackles, including three tackles for loss and a sack. Luis Bello (JR/Miami, Fla.) and Travis Burris (SR/Jefferson City, Mo.) each had eight stops.
