FAYETTE, Mo. — The Central Methodist football team fell short to the No. 15 Baker University Wildcats on Saturday evening, recording its first home loss this season.
The Eagles struggled to get their offensive game going, posting only 192 total yards to the Wildcats' 653. Kaylon Johnson (JR/Memphis, Tenn.) led the team in rushing with with 16 attempts for 41 yards. Katavious Taylor (SO/Memphis, Tenn.) had three catches for 54 yards while Damontay Allen (JR/Conway, Ark.) was targeted four times for 19 yards.
Nathan Hampton (SR/Sikeston, Mo.) launched nine punts on the night for 290 yards, with two punts inside the 20.
Defensively, Anthony Hernandez (SO/Franklin, Calif) led the Eagles with 12 stops and two tackles for loss. Danny Alvarado (SR/Los Angeles, Calif.), Dalton King (JR/Fredericktown, Mo.), and Luis Bello (JR/Miami, Fla.) each recorded eight while Darius Henton (SR/Stockton, Calif.), Collin O'Connell (SR/Fayette, Mo.), and Ca'Maurie Johnson (FR/Wichita Falls, Texas) totaled seven apiece.
Central Methodist will be on the road next Saturday, Nov. 3, for their final game of the season at MidAmerica Nazarene. Kickoff is set for 1 pm in Olathe, Kan.
