CANTON, Mo. — The Central Methodist University football team held a fourth-quarter lead, but surrended two late touchdowns to fall to Culver-Stockton, 35-22, in their season opener Saturday night.
Dante Vandeven (SR/Jackson, Mo.), in his first start in a CMU uniform, completed 14 passes for 280 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for a touchdown.
Damontay Allen (JR/Conway, Ark.) caught six passes for 122 yards, including a long reception of 69 yards. Makiah Waibel (SO/Boonville, Mo.) caught a touchdown pass that put the Eagles up 22-20 with 11:58 left in the game.
Kaylon Johnson (JR/Memphis, Tenn.) led the Eagles with 14 rushes for 45 yards.
Travis Burris (SR/Jefferson City, Mo.) led the Eagles defense with 11 tackles, including eight solo stops.
Central Methodist will be back in action on September 8 for its home opener against Peru State.
