2018 Heart Football Preseason Coaches' Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Heart of America Athletic Conference held the Fourth Annual Heart Summit and Heart Football Media Day on Monday, at the Embassy Suites in Olathe, Kansas. The 2018 Central Methodist University football team was picked to finish fifth in the South Division this season, after posting a 2-9 record in 2017.

Coach Calloway will enter his third season as he leads the Central Methodist football team.

Three-time defending division champions Grand View and Baker were each picked to repeat as the North and South Division winners, in the 2018 Heart Football Coaches' Preseason Poll.

Grand View received four of six first place votes and earned 49 points (teams do not vote for themselves) to earn top billing in the preseason selections. North Division co-champion Benedictine claimed a first place tally and was picked to finish second with 46 points, while William Penn claimed the remaining first place vote and 43 points for a third place prediction. Peru State, Culver-Stockton, and Graceland closed out the North Division poll.

Baker also received four first place votes for a maximum 40 as the Wildcats were picked to come out on top in the South Division. Missouri Valley tallied the final first place vote and was picked second with 36 points, sitting one point ahead of Evangel with 35. MidAmerica Nazarene was picked fourth with 31 points, followed by Central Methodist.

The Central Methodist football team will open the 2018 season on September 1, on the road against Culver-Stockton College at 6:00 p.m. The Eagles will return to Davis Field the following weekend against Peru State College, for Parent Weekend, on September 6 at 6:00 p.m.
