Atchison, Kan. - Competing in their final regular season meet before the postseason, the Central Methodist men's and women's cross country teams took part in the Benedictine XC Challenge. Hosted by Benedictine College, the meet was held Friday afternoon in Atchison, Kan.
The event featured 132 total runners from six different schools.
The men posted a third place finish out of six teams in the 8k, while the women finished fourth out of five teams in the 5k.
On the men's side, Central claimed two of the top five spots. Senior Radovan Kemboi posted a final time of 26:29.30 for a fourth place finish. Fellow teammate Graham Lemmons finished fifth in 27:11.56.
Junior Shawn Kiptoo finished the afternoon with a running time of 28:01.57, good enough to place 14th. Ely Yoseph posted a 28th place finish in 28:58.33, while Zy'Shonne Cowans rounded out the top five Central runners with a 41st place finish in 29:58.75.
For the CMU women, Katherine Bangert and Madeline Wieseman finished 20th and 21st respectively with final times of 20:43.74 and 20:46.36. Freshman Claire Sykes ran a final time of 22:35.94 to place 39th.
Isabella Ross and Emalee Harris each landed in the top 50 with 49th and 50th place finishes to round out the top five CMU runners.
The Eagles will next compete in the Heart Championships Saturday, Nov. 6 at 11:00 a.m. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
