FAYETTE, Mo. – The Central Methodist University women's cross country team hosted the 2019 Heart Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning at Fayette Golf Course.

The course was very technical and challenging, featuring rolling stretches and two challenges hills of a 6-8% grade that had to be repeated three times throughout the race. Mount Mercy won the race as a team with a time of 1:40.47.

Lisa Sauter (JR/Schefflenz, Germany) led the pack for the Eagles with a final time of 20:14, earning a 14^th place finish in a field of 110 racers. Brooke Van Voorhis (JR/Corinth, Texas) finished shortly after, clocking a time of 21:11 and earning a 26^th place finish.

"I feel like the women competed well today," stated head coach Mark Nelson. "Lisa seemed to struggle in the last half mile of the race but our 2^nd through 5^th runners really had a great day and ran course PRs for us. I feel like this entire group has grown a lot over the course of the season and will be big contributors during the upcoming track season. "

As a team, the program finished 6^th of 13 programs competing at the event with a final time of 1:47.18.
