FAYETTE, Mo. — Running in a drizzle on Saturday morning, three members of the Central Methodist women's cross country team competed in the Gary Stoner Invitational, led by Top-20 finishes from Lisa Sauter (SO/Schefflenz, Germany) and Abigail Cross (SR/Osborn, Mo.).

"I thought our ladies that were able to run competed well," said Coach Mark Nelson. "We're really hoping to get over some of our illness issues before our next race. I felt Abby Cross once again raced tough. I hope the rest of our team can catch fire like her."

Sauter finished in fifth place with a 5k time of 20:02. Cross finished in 17th place with a time of 21:32.

The third competitor for the Eagles was Sheila Sugut, who finished in 27th place with a time of 22:38.

Central Methodist next competes at the NAIA Seminole Valley Invite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Oct. 20 at 11:30 am.
