Marshall, Mo. - The No. 25 Central Methodist Volleyball program swept the final day of the Viking Invitational with wins over Central Baptist College (25-17, 25-16, and 25-12) and York College (25-21, 25-17, and 25-17) Saturday in Marshall, Mo.
CMU finished the tournament with a 3-1 record.
Against the Mustangs, the duo of Luciana Araujo and Joana Milho led the offensive attack with eight kills apiece, highlighted by a .545 hitting percentage for Araujo.
Milho additionally led the Eagles with seven digs and three service aces.
Mariah Bostic-Jones dished out a team-best 14 assists and matched Milho with three service aces. Jazmine Srun also reached double digit assists with 10 and joined Milho and Bostic-Jones with three service aces.
As a team, Central finished the three-set match with a .247 hitting percentage compared to -.090 for the Mustangs.
CMU closed out the tournament against York College in the 2:00 p.m. time slot.
Milho finished the the match with 16 kills on 26 swings, in addition to seven digs and four service aces. Martina Gonzato also reached double digit kills with 10.
Araujo followed with six kills, while the trio of Summer Hake, Leticia Barea, and Hailey Dreier all tallied five.
Bostic-Jones finished with 20 assists, five digs, and two service aces while Srun dished out 16 assists. Vitoria Martins led the defense with 10 digs.
Central continues non-conference action with a trip to McPherson, Kansas to compete in the McPherson Invitational.
The Eagles will first take on No. 11 nationally ranked McPherson College Thursday, Sept. 4 at 7:00 p.m.
