Fayette, Mo. - The No. 18 Central Methodist Volleyball team returned to Heart play this past weekend against Graceland University and Peru State College.
Central swept Graceland Friday night (25-10, 25-12, 25-12) followed by a win in straight sets over Peru Saturday morning (25-14, 25-12, and 25-11).
Against the Yellowjackets, Joana Milho led the attackers with a .412 hitting percentage with nine kills on 17 swings and only two errors.
Mia Trankler followed with four kills and six blocks, while Annabelle Maassen, Lauren Strange and Lauryn Farish all tallied three kills. Additionally, Maassen recorded seven digs, a pair of blocks, and a service ace.
Rita Campos led the defense with 12 digs and Hailey Dreier matched Trankler with six blocks, while Kyndra Collier record four blocks.
Central finished the evening hitting .250 compared to a negative hitting percentage for the Yellowjackets.
The Eagles picked right up where they left off Saturday morning against the Bobcats.
Milho had another strong game, tallying 10 kills on 17 swings for a .471 hitting percentage. She also finished the day with six digs and an assist.
Martina Gonzato had an outstanding game, finishing with nine kills on 11 attempts with no errors for a .818 hitting percentage.
Trankler followed with seven kills on 10 swings, while Maassen added six and Leticia Barea five.
Giulia Gainelli dished out a team-best 21 assists followed by Gabi Owczarek with 14.
Campos added 16 digs, five assists, and a team-best four service aces to her statline.
The Eagles are now 12-3 overall and 2-1 in the Heart of America. Central heads out on the road for a matchup against Baker University Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 7:00 p.m. in Baldwin City, Kan.
