Fayette, Mo. - The No. 16 Central Methodist Volleyball program ended its three-game skid with a three-set sweep over Baker University by scores of 25-8, 25-12, and 25-16 Friday night inside Puckett Field House.
With the victory, Central improves 8-4 and 2-3 in the Heart, while the Wildcats fall to 3-10 and 1-4 in conference play.
The Eagles cruised in set one with an outstanding .529 hitting percentage, compared to just .030 for Baker. The Eagles continued to roll in set two with a 25-12 victory before closing the match out 25-16 in the final frame.
Callie Henson led the CMU offense with 12 kills on 21 swings and a .524 hitting percentage. She also added four digs and a block assist. Junior middle hitter Delaney Miller tallied 10 kills while Rita Campos and Annabelle Maassen each chipped in seven.
Senior Marina Alonso dished out a match-high 23 assists. In addition, the native of São Paulo, Brazil nearly earned a double-double with nine digs. Gabi Owczarek also dished out double-digit assists with 11.
Krystal Brauner led the defense with 17 digs.
Overall, Central finished the evening with a .384 hitting percentage compared to just .100 for Baker. Central also forced 14 Wildcat attack errors.
The Eagles remain at home for a Saturday showdown against Benedictine College Saturday, Sept. 17 at 1:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
