Columbia, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's and Women's Golf programs continued fall competition at the Columbia Cougar Classic Monday and Tuesday in Columbia, Mo. 

The two-day event featured more than 100 golfers from 11 different colleges and universities. 

CMU's women's side posted a fifth-place standing while then men finished 13th. 

Mechelle Vermillion was the highest finisher for the Eagles, firing a two-round score of 166 to place 12th individually. Karington Harrell followed with a score of 181, while Lauren Williams tallied a score of 186 and Emily Molitor 201. 

As a team, the CMU women shot a total score of 734. Columbia College's "A" team won the tournament with a score of 642, followed by Lincoln (Mo.) University right behind with a score of 643. 

On the men's side, Cole Wiese and Garrett Rikel finished the tournament with identical scores of 149 to tie for 11th. Robert Hopper (170), Alexander Blase (194) and Vance Ross (198) also compteted for the Eagle men. 

Just like the CC Women, the Columbia College Men's "A" team took home first place with a team score of 566, followed by William Woods University (587) and William Penn and Columbia College "B" with scores of 604. 

Central will next compete in the Culver-Stockton College Fall Classic starting Sunday, Oct. 15 in Canton, Mo.
