Kansas City, Mo. - The Central Methodist women's golf program was selected as the 2022 Musco Heart Sportsmanship Team Award recipient for the sport of women's golf.
"This award was developed by the Heart Association of Student-Athletes (HASA) and I am proud to see this come to fruition," said Heart of America Athletic Conference Commissioner Lori Thomas. "Under head coach Stephen Main, the Eagles are very deserving of this inaugural award."
The inaugural awards feature deserving teams that are nominated by Athletics Administrators, Game Officials, Coaches, Student-Athletes, and Fans from around the conference.
Here is what the nominators had to say about Central Women's Golf:
"The Eagles showed several core character values throughout the season, including servant leadership, by logging over 20 hours of community service this spring. With Cassandra Contreras being penalized strokes during her play at the 2022 Heart Golf Championships, Cassandra along with the CMU coaching staff and fellow student-athletes showed outstanding character during that situation."
