Kansas City, Mo. - Opening the fall season with three first-place finishes, the Central Methodist women's golf team is receiving votes in the NAIA Women's Golf Coaches' Top 25 poll, as announced by the national office Friday.
It marks the first time in program history that the Eagles have been featured in the Top 25 poll.
The only other Heart program mentioned in the Top 25 is (RV) William Penn. Through five tournaments this season, the Eagles have claimed the team title three times and including four top three finishes.
Cassandra Contreras has led the women's side, posting three first-place finishes including all five tournaments landing in the Top 10. For her efforts, she has been named the Heart Women's Golfer of the Week on two separate occassions this fall.
The Eagles conclude fall competition at the William Woods Fall Invitational Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 11-12 at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, Mo.

Poll Methodology
• The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences.
• Each conference is represented by one rater.
• The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
• The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team's ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
• Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered "receiving votes.
