Raymore, Mo. - The Central Methodist golf program continued strong play during the fall season, as the women placed first and the men third at the Heart of America Conference Preview Monday and Tuesday in Raymore, Mo.
The two-day tournament featured over 120 golfers represented by 11 different Heart schools.
The women claimed the team title with a final score of 629, 11 strokes better than second place finisher, William Penn.
Reigning Heart Women's Golfer of the Week Cassandra Contreras continues her impressive run, as she took the top spot with scores of 77 and 72. Sarah Krenowicz (6) and Alea Andrade (T9) also landed in the top 10 with scores of 157 and 160 respectively. The highlight of the day for Central was a hole in one from Krenowicz on the 17th hole. Logan Allen and Riley Burns rounded out the top five golfers for CMU.
On the men's side, Missouri Valley College won the team championship with a score of 572, followed by Mount Mercy (578) and Central Methodist (593).
Tiago Swart was the highest-place finisher for CMU with a two-round score of 144, good enough for seventh. Matias Baccola placed tied for ninth with scores of 75 and 71, followed by Tomas Lopez Mazzalay (150), Cade Basson (155), and Aaron Teece (156).
The Eagles conclude fall play at the William Woods Fall Invitational Oct. 11-12 at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, Mo.
