Oklahoma City, Okla. - Central Methodist women's golfer, freshman Cassandra Contreras competed in the first two rounds of the 2021 NAIA Women's Golf National Championship May 25-26 at Rose Creek Golf Course in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Contreras, a native of Goodyear Ariz., earned a place as an individual at nationals after winning the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship in April.
She finished with a first round score of +7 (79), Tuesday, and followed with a +12 (84) in the second round, Wednesday. She shot a two-round score of +19 (163), but did not make the cut into the final rounds.
Contreras concludes her freshman campaign as Central's top golfer, winning the individual conference championship and being tabbed as the Heart Golfer of the Year. She Finished in the Top 10 in all eight of CMU's tournaments this year, including first in the Evangel Invitational and second in the MVC Invite.
For her efforts she was named the Heart Women's Golfer of the Week on three different occassions.
