Marshall, Mo. - The Central Methodist University men's and women's golf teams posted Top-4 finishes in their return to the links Monday and Tuesday afternoon at the MVC Invitational in Marshall, Mo. 

The two-day tournament, hosted by Missouri Valley College, saw the men post a Top-3 finish while the women finished in fourth. Matias Baccola fired rounds of 76, 70, and 71 to finish with a three-round total of 217, good enough to earn a T-6 finish on the men's side. Aaron Teece posted a two day total of 226 to finish 18th. 

On the women's side, freshman Cassandra Contreras collected the first Top-5 finish of her young career, posting a two-round total of 164, with scores of 84 and 80. Teammate Bailey Stefanski nearly missed a Top-10 finish, posting scores of 91 and 87 for 11th place. 

The reserve men finished the two-day tourney with a three-round total of 956. Trace Brown led the Eagles with an overall score of 228, firing rounds of 73, 73, and 82. Ori Bartlett was just four strokes back with a final score of 232. 

Columbia College took home the team title on the men's side with an overall score of 851.  After a three-way tie for first place, Edgar Naen of Missouri Valley won the first playoff hole to win the individual championship. The Columbia College women matched the men and claimed the women's team title with a two-round score of 640. Emily Strunck of Columbia won the individual title with a score of 155. 

Both teams, which were back on the course for the first time since the 2016-17 season, will next compete in the Culver-Stockton College Fall tournament, Monday, Sept. 28., in Quincy, Ill.
