No. 7 Eagles Conclude Weekend with Perfect Record at Branson Bash Classic

Branson, Mo. - The No. 7 Central Methodist Softball program completed a perfect weekend with two more wins Saturday afternoon at the Branson Bash Classic in Branson, Missouri. 

Central began the day with a 13-4 win over Olivet Nazarene in five innings before edging Bellevue Univesity 3-2 in the finale. 

Against the Tigers, Central found themselves trailing 4-1 heading into the bottom of the second. CMU's offense found their groove in the bottom half of the frame, scoring five runs on four hits. 

Highlighting the inning fo Central included an RBI single from Joely Crider, and a pair of two-RBI singles from Maddie Holly and Madison Roberts

Veronica Dearth held Olivet scoreless through the third, fourth and fifth innings to help CMU preserve their lead. The Eagles scored additional runs in the fourth and fifth innings, including five in the bottom half of the fifth. 

Following another two-RBI single from Holly, Elizabeth Palumbo smashed a three-run home run to center field, securing a 13-4 win for CMU in five innings. 

The final game of the Classic was a low scoring affair against the Bruins of Bellevue. 

Bellevue struck first in the bottom of the third on an RBI single to right field. Central eventually tied the game in the fifth, courtesy of an RBI single from Holly to score Makayla Albert

The Bruins regained the lead quickly on a solo home run to left in the bottom of the fifth, before CMU plated two runs in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead. 

Rachel Brandt doubled down the left field line to score Ainsley Feller from second to tie the game at 2-2. Crider followed with a single to put runners on the corners. 

Kaysie Jolly gave Central the go-ahead run with an RBI-single through the right side to bring Brandt home from third. 

Haley Cotter picked up her second win of the weekend, tossing five innings and giving up two runs while striking out four. 

Cassidy Brent came in relief and earned the save, pitching the final two innings and picking up one strikeout. 

Central will travel to Leavenworth, Kansas to face Saint Mary Thursday, Feb. 20 for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
