No. 3 CMU Remains Perfect in Heart Play with Sweep of Pioneers

No. 3 CMU Remains Perfect in Heart Play with Sweep of Pioneers

Olathe, Kan. - The No. 3 Central Methodist Softball team continued its winning ways with a doubleheader sweep of MidAmerica Nazarene Saturday afternoon in Olathe, Kansas.

The Eagles defeated the Pioneers by scores of 6-2 and 2-0. Central improves to 27-3 and 8-0 in the Heart of America, while MidAmerica falls to 18-16 and 8-8 in conference play.

After trailing by a single run for a majority of the first game, Central's offense would catch fire in the fifth. The Eagles plated six runs on three hits, while capitalizing on two Pioneer errors in the inning.

MNU scored a run in the bottom half of the frame, but were unable to come any closer, as Central would go on to earn a four-run win.

Jordyn Ball continues to impress, as the sophomore improved her overall record in the circle to 14-0. The native of Fayette tossed a complete game and allowed just one earned run on five hits while striking out three.

Madison Roberts batted three-of-four including an RBI-single to lead the offense for the Eagles. Daly Garland picked up two hits in the nine spot, while both Joely Crider and Carly Robbins drove in runners.

Game two saw only two runs scored, both by the Eagles in the third and sixth innings respectively. Garland recorded an RBI-double to left field to score Lauren Hill in the third, followed by an RBI-double from Crider to score Madison White in the sixth.

Senior Haile Farris had an outstanding showing in the circle, as she pitched a complete game shut out to earn her eighth win of the year. She gave up just three hits and one walk while striking out five batters.

Central remains on the road and will next take on Graceland University for a doubleheader Sunday, April 7 beginning at 12:00 p.m. in Lamoni, Iowa.
