Olathe, Kan. - The No. 9 Central Methodist softball team pushed its win streak to 26 with a pair of road wins over Heart South Division foe MidAmerica Nazarene University Tuesday afternoon in Olathe, Kan.
The Eagles improve their overall record to 35-4 and 27-1 in conference play, while MNU falls to 27-17 and 18-14 in the Heart. Central's 26 game winning streak is just one victory shy of matching the longest win streak in the last 15 years in program history (27, March 23 - April 30, 2015).
The first game of the day remained scoreless until the top of the fifth inning. Central plated its first run courtesy of an RBI-single to left field from Daly Garland, which scored Madison Love from second.
Leading 1-0 entering the final inning, sophomore shortstop Madison White hammered her 14th home run of the season to centerfield, scoring two.
Keighlan Cronin held the MNU bats to no runs on seven hits with seven K's, as Central completed the 3-0 shut out. Cronin is now 17-1 on the season, having tossed 16 complete games so far in 2022.
While both teams were nearly identical in hits, the Pioneers stranded 11 total baserunners.
Game two was another low scoring affair, as the Eagles earned a 2-0 victory. Central's two runs came in the second and third innings, beginning when Katelyn Kiser was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Love from third.
The second and final run came via an RBI double from Micaela Harcrow to score White.
Garland was the only Eagle to record a multi-hit game, as the freshman second basemen picked up a single and a double.
Mykala Johnico tossed a complete game shut out with six strikeouts, improving her overall record to 14-0.
Central will next square off against Missouri Valley College Friday, April 29 for a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m. in Marshall, Mo.
The Eagles swept the earlier matchup between the two teams by scores of 10-2 and 8-0 on March 20 in Fayette.
