SENIOR TRIBUTE: The Central Methodist University softball team was building momentum while heading into conference competition and boasted a 9-5 overall record when the spring season cancellation decision was made. The team was nationally ranked in 11 categories, including being 6th in doubles per game (2.36) and 13th in runs batted in per game (7.58).

Lexi Jones, a Missouri native, has spent three seasons with the Eagles and is currently set to graduate in December with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.

"My time at Central has given me some of the best moments of my life! I've met my lifelong friends here and I will forever be grateful for that," said Jones. "My teachers and coaches have always helped me become as successful as I could be and have pushed me every day to be my best."

Jones was a Heart Second Team All-Conference selection last season after a stellar season with the Eagles. She had collected 14 hits, 12 RBIs, three runs, two doubles, and a .424 batting average through 11 games this season.

When discussing how the current situation panned out, Jones shared, "Everything happened so fast. We came home from our tournament in Gulf Shores and all of a sudden a few days later our season was over. It all happened so fast that I didn't even realize what was going on. I hadn't heard much about the virus at first and then all of a sudden our school was closed. I hope no one ever has to go through this again. I had my last at-bat and didn't even know it."

Jones currently holds a career batting average of .441 and a career fielding percentage of .978. She has tallied a total of seven homeruns and 16 doubles on 89 hits in an Eagles uniform.

"My advice to other athletes would be don't take anything for granted! Always play every game like it could be your last and give everything you do 110%," stated Jones.
