LIMA, Peru – Jonathan Lynch had a more exciting summer vacation than most. The Central Methodist softball assistant coach spent last week competing at the 2019 Pan American Games with the U.S. Men's Softball Team, helping the squad break a 16-year medal drought at major international competition.
Team USA brought home a silver medal as they went 5-3 on the week, only dropping contests to reigning world champion, Argentina.
Needing a win to advance to the championship game, Lynch came up clutch, hitting a home run to help Team USA to a 7-4 victory over Mexico. Lynch has been a part of USA Softball since 2012 when he debuted with the Junior National Team, but this was his first time on the Pan American Games roster.
