With the victories, Central Methodist University improves to 29-13 overall and 11-3 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play. With the losses, Avila University falls to 29-17-1 overall, and 10-8 in The Heart.

The Eagles used a three run first inning and five runs in the final two frames, to pull away late from the Avila University Eagles by a final of 8-4 in game one on Saturday. Eagles starting pitcher Erin Enke (Martinez, Calif.) was stellar in the circle yet again. She went all seven innings Saturday, while allowing four runs on seven hits, to go along with four strikeouts and five walks in the win (14-5). Enke finished the week with four victories, while tossing a complete game in each start; 28 innings total.

Offensively, Central received support for Lauren Geringer (O'Fallon, Mo.), who blasted a three-run homerun in the top of the first inning.

Jessie Wilmes (Flint Hill, Mo.) finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and two RBI's, while Kylee Foster (Sturgeon, Mo.) finished 2-for-4 in the nine-hole in the order, with two RBI's and a run scored.

In game two, Avila jumped on the board first, claiming a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. The Central would attack for a run of their own in the top of the third inning to tie the game at 1-1, when Lauren Geringer singled in Skyler Hime (Raymore, Mo.).

CMU would then score two runs in the fifth inning, three more runs in the sixth inning and another run in the seventh for a 7-1 lead.

Avila would not go way, as they struck for four runs in the bottom of the seventh, but fell short 7-5. Both teams finished with 12 hits apiece in game two.

Haley Kinnison (Lee's Summit, Mo.) earned the win (11-5), tossing 6.1 innings while allowing three runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Ashley Litton (Lee's Summit, Mo.) earned the save (2), by tossing two-thirds of an inning, while allowing two runs on five hits with one strikeout.

The 2-3-4 hitters for CMU of Jessie Wilmes, Lauren Geringer, and Hannah Blackmon (Beaumont, Texas) combined to finish 6-for-11 at the plate with three RBI's and two runs scored.

Central Methodist remains on the road, for a conference doubleheader at Missouri Valley College on Tuesday at 1pm. CMU returns to the Cox Softball Complex on Saturday April 23rd, to host MidAmerica Nazarene University in a doubleheader beginning at 1pm.
