Baldwin City, Kan. - The Central Methodist Men's Cross Country team posted a second-place finish at the Mike Spielman Classic Friday evening in Baldwin City, Kan. 

The field featured 40 runners from four different programs including; host school Baker University, Central Methodist, Haskell and MidAmerica Nazarene. 

Senior Shawn Kiptoo finished second in the 8K with a time of 27:11.09. Kiptoo was also the highest finisher of out of the field of NAIA runners. Nolan Rogers of KU Running Club won the event in 27:04.62. 

Sophomore Meshack Kiptanui was right behind Kiptoo, placing third in 27:27.41. Zy'Shonne Cowans earned an 18th place standing at 29:49.04, followed by Elliott Reed at 30:12.78. 

Exavier Coburn, Grant Engel, and Isaiah Barg also ran for Central. 

Host school Baker University won the team title with 40 total points, followed by CMU (52), Haskell (62), and MidAmerica Nazarene (64). 

The Eagles will turn their attention to the postseason, beginning with the Heart Championships Saturday, Nov. 5 in Des Moines, Iowa.
