Gainesville, Fla. - The Central Methodist men's track and field program produced two All-America performances and multiple strong showings at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center in Gainesville.
As a team, Central finished in a tie for 17th place in the overall standings with 13 points.
Leading the way for the Eagles was junior Corlando Chambers, who delivered a standout performance in the men's 600 meters. Chambers raced to a second-place finish in the national final with a time of 1:16.32, earning NAIA All-America honors and setting a new school record. He advanced to the championship race after clocking 1:18.75 in the preliminary round.
Chambers also contributed as a member of the Eagles' 4x400-meter relay team. The quartet of Isaac Lawson, Chambers, Logan Bass, and Tyrone Summerall posted a time of 3:14.94 in the preliminaries to finish 10th.
Senior hurdler Wilton George also earned All-America recognition with a strong showing in the men's 60-meter hurdles. George finished fourth overall in the final with a time of 8.12 seconds. He secured his place in the final after recording a time of 8.02 seconds in the preliminary round.
In the field events, Brian Shine narrowly missed scoring in the men's triple jump, finishing ninth overall with a mark of 14.72 meters (48-3.5). Teammate Azaan Stoughtenborough also competed in the event, placing 21st with a top jump of 14.28 meters (46-10.25).
