Kansas City, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Track & Field duo of Isaac Lawson and Brian Shine were each named Heart of America Indoor Athletes of the Week by the conference office Monday. 

Lawson took home Track Athlete of the Week, while Shine was recognized as Field Athlete of the Week. 

Lawson earned a fifth-place finish in the 400 meters Saturday at the Alexis Jarrett Invitational. The freshman from Allen, Texas crossed the line in 49.05 for a new school record. 

Shine qualified for nationals on his last attempt of the triple jump with a leap of 14.53 meters, finishing third in the event. 

CMU will next compete in the Coach Alsup Invite, hosted on the campus of Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Missouri Saturday, January 17.
