Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Track and Field program capped a dominant weekend with its second straight Heart of America Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship, which was hosted at their home facility, Davis Field and Hairston Track.
Central won the championship with 196 total points, 85 points better than second-place Benedictine and 97 points above third-place Park University.
With the CMU women winning the women's title, both programs concluded an impressive indoor and outdoor run that saw the Eagles win three of four conference championships in 2024-25.
Additionally, CMU garnered 15 individual conference champions in nine different events.
Highlighting the meet for Central was junior Sam Thomas, who was the highest point scorer of any male athlete with 23.5 points. He won the men's long jump (7.01m), and also scored points in the men's 400m dash (Third - 48.72), 200m dash (Seventh - 21.50), and the 4x400m relay (First - 41.10).
Senior Hunter Mont Cary competed in the decathlon, finishing second in the two-day, 10-event competition with 6371 total points. He placed first in the 100m dash, shot put, 400m dash, 110m hurdles, discus, and 1500m run en route to a runner-up finish.
Freshman Harvey Sayon took home gold in the high jump, clearing a height of 2.06 meters. Ethan Smith and Brock Melton went 1-2 in the pole vault, each clearing a mark of 4.35 meters.
Freshman Azaan Stoughtenborough won the men's triple jump at 14.60 meters. Brayton Stephenson finished as the runner-up in the shot put with a toss of 17.03 meters, while Colder Evans placed fourth with a toss of 16.31 meters.
Stephenson took home gold in the discus with a toss of 48.25 meters. Evans finished as the silver medalist in the same event with a toss of 48.07 meters and was second in the hammer throw (52.62m).
Hugo Massa earned a runner-up finish in the 800m run at 1:15.97, while David Leon placed fourth in 1:52.61.
Grant Engel placed third in the 10,000m run, crossing the finish line in 32.27.03.
Senior Leroy Williams won the 110m hurdles after clocking a time of 14.20 seconds. Logan Bass also earned a gold in the 400m hurdles in 53.54 seconds.
The relay teams for the Eagles dominated from start to finish, earning podium finishes in all three races.
The 4x100m relay team of Adam Trachsel, Thomas, Williams, and Charles Young won a tightly contested race, finishing just ahead of Mount Mercy with a time of 41.10 seconds.
Central's 4x400m relay team of Thomas, Bass, Massa, and Leon placed second with a time of 3:14.86.
The 4x800m team of Jacchaeus Taylor, Leon, Doriye Jackson, and Massa won their race in a time of 7:39.80.
The top three finishers in each event were considered 2025 Heart Outdoor Track & Field All-Conference athletes.
1st Place = First Team All-Conference
2nd Place = Second Team All-Conference
3rd Place = Third Team All-Conference
Fourth, fifth, and sixth place finishers = Honorable Mention All-Conference.
Central will turn its attention to the NAIA National Championships, which will be held May 21-23 at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana.
