Kansas City, Mo. - Coming off a tremendous indoor campaign, Central Methodist junior thrower Brayton Stephenson opened the outdoor season with a bang.
The native of Harrisburg, Missouri, was named the Heart of America Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week by the conference office.
In the first meet of the outdoor season, the CMU Open, Stephenson hit the 'A' standard for national qualification in the shot put with a toss of 16.88 meters. He finished second in the event out of 30 athletes.
Additionally, he placed seventh in the discus with a throw of 44.78 meters.
Central will next compete at the Miner Invitational, a two-day meet hosted by Missouri S&T, beginning Friday, March 21 in Rolla, Missouri.
