Kansas City, Mo. - After a stellar showing at the Hear of America Indoor Track and Field Conference Championships this past weekend, Central Methodist senior Ethan Smith was named the Heart Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Meet by the conference office Monday.
Smith won the heptathlon after tallying 4767 total points. During the seven-event competition, the native of Kansas City, Missouri won the pole vault and posted top three finishes in the long jump, shot put, high jump and 60m hurdles.
Additionally, Smith earned a second place standing in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.15 meters.
He was apart of the men's team that took home a fourth-place standing as a team in the conference championships with 104.5 total points.
