Fayette, Mo. - Central Methodist junior thrower Brayton Stephenson was named the Heart of America Indoor Field Athlete of the Week by the conference office Monday.
It marks the first weekly award for the junior this season and the second of his career.
Stephenson broke the indoor program record in the shot put Friday at the UCM Invite in Warrensburg.
The native of Harrisburg, Missouri completed a throw of 16.94 meters, the second-best throw in the NAIA so far this season. He ultimately finished second in the event and qualified for nationals with an 'A' standard throw.
