Warrensburg, Mo. - Highlighted by a record breaking weekend for junior Brayton Stephenson, the Central Methodist Track and Field programs competed in the UCM Invite Friday afternoon in Warrensburg, Mo.
Stephenson broke the indoor program record in the shot put Friday, completing a throw of 16.94 meters, the second best throw in the NAIA so far this season. He ultimately finished second in the event and qualified for nationals with the throw.
Colder Evans threw a new PR in the same event, finishing fourth with a toss of 16.49 meters. Additionally, Evans earned a second place standing in the weight throw with a toss of 17.47 meters.
In the triple jump, Azaan Stoughtenborough placed second with a jump of 13.38 meters. Chase Vickrey ran a new personal best of 8.24 seconds in the 60m hurdles to place fourth.
Adam Trachsel posted a third place standing in the 60m dash in a time of 6.93 seconds. Tristan Boyce finished fourth, clocking a time of 6.98 seconds in the same event.
David Leon won the 600 yard run with a new personal best time of 1:14.15. Jacchaeus Taylor finished second in the 800m run, crossing the finish line in 2:00.12.
On the women's side, Karli Wolfe placed second in the weight throw with a toss of 16.86 meters. Wolfe also earned a third place standing in the shot put, completing a throw of 11.61 meters.
Claireece Cross, Ta'Mya Davis, and Emma Paninka went 2-3-4 in the triple jump of 10.75 meters, 10.51 meters and 10.43 meters respectively.
Zaria Jones finished third in the 60m hurdles, clocking a time of 9.33 seconds. Zakia Porter finished second in the finals of 60m dash in 7.68 seconds. In the prelims, Porter clocked a time of 7.67 seconds to hit a new PR.
The duo of Allena Rowland and Molly Milazzo finished third and fourth in the 800m run in times of 2:24.90 and 2:28 respectively.
Dayana Montenegro, Diane Ondobo, and Sakoya Johnson went 2-3-4 in the 200m dash with times of 26.09, 26.40, and 27.42 respectively.
Tara Ozinga earned a runner-up finish in the 3,000m run, crossing the line in a time of 10:53.14.
Central will next compete in the Washburn Open beginning Friday, Jan. 31 in Topeka, Kan.
