Maryville, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Track & Field program finished fifth at the 2023 Heart of America Indoor Track & Field Conference Championships this weekend in Maryville, Mo.
Grand View took home the team title with 163.5 points, followed by Mount Mercy (106.5 points), Benedictine (104 points), and MidAmerica Nazarene (99 points).
The CMU men tallied 85.5 points to place fifth, one standing higher than last year's sixth place finish.
Senior Mohammed Nyaoga placed fourth in the 400m dash in a time of 49.92 seconds, as did Doriye Jackson in the 600m run in 1:21.69.
Jackson also earned a third place standing in the 800m run in 1:56.40. The men's 4x400m relay team made up of Nyaoga, Adrian Watson, Jack Schiffhauer, and Jackson placed third in the event in a time of 3:19.77.
The 4x800m relay team of Schiffhauer, Zy'Shonne Cowans, Jackson, Nyaoga just missed out on a podium finish with a final time of 7:59.41.
Senior Parker Yager earned a silver medal in the pole vault with a mark of 4.35 meters. Ethan Smith and Jaxon Hiser went 4-5 in the event as well.
Colder Evans and Brayton Stephenson placed second and third in the shot put with marks of 15.24 and 15.07 meters respectively.
Josh Henderson and Colder Evans went 2-3 in the weight throw with marks of 15.98 and 15.96 meters.
Ethan Smith placed third in the heptathlon, tallying 4702 points.
The top three finishers in each event will be considered 2023 Heart Indoor Track & Field All-Conference athletes.
The Eagles will turn their attention to the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships, set to take place March 2-4 in Brookings, S.D.
