Fayette, Mo. - The No. 3 Central Methodist Men's Soccer program continued its tear through NCAA opponents, this time knocking off DII Truman State, 2-0 Sunday night at Davis Field.
The Eagles improve to 3-0-1 overall, while the Bulldogs fall to 1-1-1.
In the first 45 minutes of action, the Eagles and Bulldogs were evenly balanced, as each side recorded six first-half shots. In the second half, Central's offense overpowered Truman, firing off eight shots compared to TSU's two.
Sophomore Vitor Antelo put the Eagles on the scoreboard first, connecting on a header via a throw in from Jayton Johnson in the 39th minute of play. Not long after, Antelo dished a long range ball into the box, which found the head of Liam Arthur for the Eagles second and final goal of the game.
Two first half goals would prove to be all that was needed, as Central's defense would shut out the Bulldogs, 2-0.
CMU finished the game with 14 total shots including three shots on goal. Arthur and Cian Halpin each tallied three shots, and Beer De Vos picked up one save in a full 90 minutes of action between the posts.
The Eagles will next take on Southwestern Christian, Thursday, Sept. 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Davis Field. It will mark Central's final non-conference game of the 2022 season.
