Kansas City, Mo. - The Central Methodist Baseball duo of Carlos Negron and Clayton Burke were tabbed as the Heart Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively by the conference office.
It marks the second time Negron has earned the honor this season and the first for Burke.
Negron had a monster series against the Graceland Yellowjackets this past weekend. The junior batted .615 while going 8-for-13 at the plate with two home runs and four doubles. On the weekend he recorded 12 RBI.
In game three against the Yellowjackets Sunday, Negron batted four-for-four with eight total RBI, including three doubles and a grand slam.
Burke pitched six complete innings against Graceland in game two Saturday. The junior gave up just two hits, no runs and struck out eight batters, his second highest total this season so far.
Burke now owns a 3-1 record and has tallied 25 Ks through four appearances on the bump in 2024.
The Eagles head out on the road for a four-game series against William Penn University beginning Saturday, March 9 at 1:00 p.m. in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
