Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Baseball program earned two victories over Peru State College by scores of 15-2 and 12-3 in the Heart Opener Sunday afternoon at Estes Field.
The Eagles improve to 12-8 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while the Bobcats fall to 3-7 and 0-2 in the Heart.
In game one, Robbie Merced led the Eagle bats, batting four-of-five with four RBI, including a two-RBI double. Joseph Weatherford followed with two hits and three RBI including a sacrifice fly and a two-RBI double.
Bobby Nichols, Alan West, and Jeremy Conforti each drove in two runners as well. Nichols also picked up a stolen base.
Altogether, Central finished the day scoring 15 runs on 14 hits.
Sebastian Escobar earned his fourth win of the year, tossing five complete innings and giving up just one earned run on five hits on the bump. He also struck out six batters.
Alexander Billo came in relief for the final two innings of work, giving up just one earned run.
In game two, both Tanner Sears and Merced recorded two-run home runs, while West picked up a solo home run.
Clayton Burke got the start on the bump, tossing six complete innings and allowing three earned runs on six hits with five walks. He also struck out five batters.
Alfred Ulloa pitched the final inning with one strikeout.
The final two games of the four game series against Peru have been postponed due to projected wind chill temperatures. A makeup date will be announced.
