Kansas City, Mo. - After a stellar week at the plate, CMU junior shortstop Robbie Merced was named the Heart Baseball Player of the Week by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Merced had a monster weekend for the Eagles, as the native of Springfield, Mo. hit seven home runs in 16 at bats with 20 RBI. He also recorded a grand slam in Central's third game against Graceland Tuesday afternoon.
He had four multi-hit games and drew seven walks. In addition, Merced posted a staggering 2.125 slugging percentage on the week, leading the Eagles to a perfect 6-0 record.
Merced leads the nation in home runs with 18 so far in the 2022 campaign.
The Eagles will next face Baker University for a four game series March 26-27 in Baldwin City, Kan.
