Lewiston, Idaho - The No. 4 ranked CMU baseball team will begin play in the 2021 Avista NAIA World Series against the winner of No. 7 IU Southeast (Ind.)/No. 10 Concordia (Neb.) Saturday, May 29 at 8:30 (CST) in Lewiston, Idaho.
The Eagles have earned the No. 2 seed and are making their first ever trip to the world series after winning the Opening Round of the O'Fallon Bracket last week in O'Fallon, Mo. Central (46-6), clinched an automatic berth in the national championship after winning the Heart of America Athletic Conferenece tournament with a 6-5 win over MidAmerica Nazarene Tuesday, May 11.
IU Southeast (48-14) is also making its first ever world series appearance after defeating top-ranked and defending national champion Tennessee Wesleyan 16-10 to win the Kingsport Bracket. The Grenadiers earned an automatic bid to the tournament as the River States Conference regular season champions.
Concordia (42-10) clinched the No. 10 seed in the world series, defeating host Bellevue (Neb.) in the if-necessary game on Thursday 7-5 to claim a berth. The Bulldogs were down 5-3 heading into the bottom of the eighth, but plated four to take a 7-5 lead. That advantage stood as Concordia will head to the World Series for the first time in program history.
The nine opening round champions join host Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) at the 64th annual Avista NAIA Baseball World Series in Lewiston, Idaho, May 28 – June 4. For World Series fan and visitor information, click here.
