FULl LIST OF NAIA ALL-AMERICANS
Fayette, Mo. – Dustyn Macaluso (SR/Sacramento, Calif.), Central Methodist University's do-it-all centerfielder this past season, has been named a second-team All-American by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) earlier this week.
"Mac is a great kid with a great attitude every day," Eagle's Head Coach Nate Breland said. "He is a very talented five-tool player and was a major reason for our success this season."
The senior sociology major from Sacramento, Calif., who earlier had been named a first teamer by the Heart of America Athletics Conference, helped guide CMU to a 42-17 season, a Heart southern division championship, and a spot in the opening round of the NAIA national playoffs.
Macaluso batted .426 for the Eagles, 25th-best in the nation this season. His 60 runs scored were second on the team and 13th in the nation, and his 92 hits led CMU and were #12 in the NAIA, Breland noted.
His 11 home runs tied for the team lead, and 17 doubles were best for the Eagles, and he drove in 60 runs despite hitting in the number two spot in the lineup. Macaluso stole a team-best 22 bases, and he sported a sparking .963 fielding percentage defensively.
Macaluso transferred to CMU from Sonoma (Calif.) State University for his senior season.
"I could not be more proud for Dustyn to receive such a great honor, it was well deserved," Breland said.
