Fayette, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2016 Baseball All-America Teams as selected by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association All-America Committee. National Player of the Year Manny DeLeon of Tabor (Kan.) headlines the group of 34 individuals named to the first and second team. An additional 34 student-athletes received honorable mention recognition, including Central Methodist's Brad Cuyos (Pearland, Tex.), and Joba Ferrell (Chicago, Ill.).
Joba Ferrell finished his senior season with the Eagles, starting and playing in all 61 games. Ferrell crushed nine homeruns in the leadoff spot, and finished third on the team with 55 RBI's. Ferrell led CMU with 33 stolen bases and hit a team high .424. Ferrell finished with a .682 slugging percentage, and a .486 on-base percentage. Nationally, Joba Ferrell finished Top-10 in total hits (100), total triples (8), and total runs scored (76).
"Joba (Ferrell) had a great season and a great career," said CMU head baseball coach Nate Breland. "I am very proud of him."
Brad Cuyos finished his senior season starting and playing in all 61 games. Cuyos played catcher, pitcher and designated hitter throughout the season. On the mound Cuyos finished with a team high four saves and a 2-0 record. He also finished the season with a 2.25 ERA. At the plate, Cuyos hit .329 with a team high 18 home runs and 61 RBI's.
"Brad (Cuyos) had a special season," added Breland. "I enjoyed coaching and working with him every day this year. He really matured as a player and a leader."
