Eagles Defeat Wildcats Twice On Friday

Eagles Defeat Wildcats Twice On Friday
Fayette, Mo. The Central Methodist University baseball team had their way with the Culver-Stockton College Wildcats on Friday afternoon, taking the first two games of their four game weekend series by finals of 6-1 and 6-0 at Estes Field.

With the victories, Central Methodist improves to 37-15 overall and 21-9 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play. With the losses, Culver-Stockton College falls to 23-28 overall, and 16-14 in The Heart.

Central Methodist allowed a solo homerun to the Wildcats in the top of the second inning in game one of Friday's doubleheader with Culver-Stockton College. CMU would not allow another run to score, and outscored Culver-Stockton College 12-0 from there on out for two victories on Friday afternoon.

Eagles' game one starting pitcher Josh Thomas (Parker, Colo.) was on fire on Friday afternoon. Thomas went all seven innings, while allowing just the one run on six hits with four strikeouts and zero walks in the win (8-2).

Offensively, Logan Bradley (Farmington, Mo.) and Brad Cuyos (Pearland, Tex.) combined to finish 2-for-6 at the plate with five RBI's, two homeruns, and two runs scored in the game one win.

In between games, the CMU seniors honored their favorite faculty and staff members, and senior pitcher Jeremy Karasewski (Cortland, Ill.) proposed to his longtime girlfriend; she did say yes to his wedding proposal.

The Eagles continued to soar in game two, as they jumped out for an early 1-0 lead and never looked back. CMU outhit Culver-Stockton 11-4 in game two and would win the game 6-0.

Brad Cuyos finished with a team high three RBI's, while Joba Ferrell (Chicago, Ill.) paced the Eagles offense going 3-for-4 in the leadoff spot with two runs scored, one double and an RBI.

Sophomore starting pitcher Tyler Hull (New Franklin, Mo.) went the distance in the victory (7-2). Hull tossed a shutout, while allowing just four hits, he struckout six batters, and walked just one.

The Eagles close out the 2016 regular season Saturday, with another conference doubleheader against Culver-Stockton College. First pitch is scheduled for 1pm at Estes Field.
