Based on the HAAC Baseball Procedural Manual, the teams with the top tournament records are named champion and runner-up. With Central Methodist and Avila both holding a 2-0 tournament record, Central Methodist is declared the winner as the top seed, and Avila is the runner-up. Avila becomes the second Avista-NAIA World Series Opening Round automatic qualifier from the conference.
Central Methodist's pitching dominated the Spring Classic. Drew Greiwe, Tyler Paule and Rhett Quinlan did not allow a run, while the Eagles offense took flight outscoring Benedictine (Kan.) and MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) a combined 14-0.
Central Methodist now awaits the unveiling of the 57th Annual World Series Opening Round pairings on May 6 at 12 p.m. CT on naia.org. The event will be played May 9-13 and features nine five-team double elimination tournaments (45 qualifiers).
The nine Opening Round champions join host Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) to make up the field at the World Series at Harris Field in Lewiston, Idaho, May 24-31.
