Nunez Named Heart Women's Wrestler of the Week

Kansas City, Mo. - After a stellar showing this past weekend, Central Methodist redshirt senior Victoria Nunez was named the Heart of America Women's Wrestler of the Week.

The native of El Paso, Texas took home her first tournament championship of the Year at the Red Lady Open, which occurred Saturday in Montgomery, Alabama.

Nunez won the 117-pound weight class with three consecutive victories. In the semifinals, she knocked off No. 16 nationally ranked Catherine Head of Lindsey Wilson College by Tech Fall, 12-2.

Nunez then pinned her opponent in 2:14 to win the tournament.

The Eagles will next compete against Quincy University for a dual on Friday, Jan. 10 at 6:00 p.m. in Quincy, Ill.
