Gough earns Central's first ever Heart Women's Wrestler of the Week award

Gough earns Central's first ever Heart Women's Wrestler of the Week award

Kansas City, Mo. - In a historic moment for CMU women's wrestling, freshman 136-pound grappler Lillian Gough earned the program's first-ever Heart Women's Wrestler of the Week honor, announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

The native of Jay, Okla. won the 136-pound bracket of the Women's College State Championship in St. Louis this past weekend, which included several NAIA teams and an NCAA Division II opponent.

After receiving a first-round bye, Gough recorded three-straight wins, highlighted by a 14-7 Decision in the first-place match. Two of her victories came over ranked opponents in addition to an NCAA Division II opponent.

Overall, Gough helped lead her squad to a fourth-place finish at the event.

The Eagles will next compete at the Warrior Open Saturday, Dec. 11 at 9:00 a.m. in Fort Wayne, Ind.
