Eagles Pick up Two Wins at Columbia College Triangular

Columbia, Mo. - The (RV) Central Methodist Volleyball program came away with a 2-0 record at the Columbia College triangular Tuesday evening in Columbia, Mo. 

The tri featured (RV) CMU, (RV) Columbia College, and Ottawa University. 

Central started the night off against the Braves, winning the four-set match by scores of 25-21, 22-25, 25-16, and 25-13. 

The Eagles then won another four-setter against the Cougars by scores of 25-23, 25-23, 23-25, and 27-25.

Against the Braves, Central hit .241 as a unit compared to Ottawa's .089. Central's lineup featured four different Eagles who registered at least 10 kills.

Gimena Dezeo led the Eagles with 14 kills on 27 swings for a .481 hitting percentage. Joana Milho tallied 13 kills, followed by Luciana Araujo with 11 and Summer Hake with 10.

Mariah Bostic-Jones, a sophomore from Jacksonville, Florida, recorded a double-double with 23 assists and 12 digs. Jazmine Srun followed with 16 assists. 

Freshman libero Vitoria Martins led the defense with 20 digs, accompanied by Milho with 16. Milho joined Bostic-Jones with a double-double. 

Against the Cougars, Hake led the offense with seven kills on 17 swings for a .353 hitting percentage. Dezeo and Araujo tallied nine kills, while the trio of Lauryn Farish, Leticia Barea, and Hailey Dreier each tallied five.

Bostic-Jones ended the night with another double-double with 22 assists and 16 digs. Srun added 12 assists. 

Martins led the defense again with 19 digs, and Milho put in 12 to give her another double-double. 

Central now stands at 8-2 overall.

The Eagles host their home opener against the Grand View Vikings on Friday, Sept., at 7:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
