Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Women's Volleyball team saw its Heart Tournament run come to a close in the Heart Semifinals Tuesday night inside Puckett Field House.
Central fell to No. 5 seeded MidAmerica Nazarene in five sets by scores of 18-25, 25-17, 25-17, 17-25, and 10-15.
Joana Milho led the Central offense with 17 kills to go along with 18 digs to secure a double double. The junior from Lisboa, Portugal also added four service aces and a pair of blocks to her stat line.
Super senior Annabelle Maassen joined Milho in the double double club with 15 kills and 14 digs. The 15 kills are the second highest for the Jefferson City native this season.
Martina Gonzato followed with nine kills while Kelsie Walker tallied seven from the middle hitter position. Walker also recorded a game-high five blocks.
Freshman Giulia Gainelli led the setters with a new career best 33 assists paired with 17 digs, making her the third Eagle to join the double double club on the night.
Senior setter Gabi Owczarek dished out 16 assists in addition to nine digs.
Senior libero Rita Campos matched Milho with 18 digs to go along with eight assists and a service ace.
As Heart Regular Season Champions, Central has already punched its ticket to the NAIA National Tournament with a record of 26-7.
