Volleyball Holds Strong at No. 21 in Fifth Edition of NAIA Coaches' Top 25

Kansas City, Mo. - The Central Methodist Volleyball program stayed put at No. 21 in the fifth edition of the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 poll, which was announced by the national office last week.

It marks the third straight poll that Central has landed at No. 21. In the first two polls of the year, Central was ranked 18th.

Benedictine College is the only other program featured in the national rankings, as the Ravens are currently receiving votes.

Last week the Eagles wrapped up their first Heart Regular Season Championship since the 2004 season with wins over Benedictine and Culver-Stockton.

Central currently boasts a 25-5 overall record and a 14-2 mark in the Heart of America. CMU is riding a nine-game winning streak, having dropped just one set in that span.

The Eagles conclude regular season action against Park University on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7:00 p.m. in Parkville, Mo.

Rating Methodology:

  • The rating is rated by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conference/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents).
  • The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each rater rates the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place, 28 for third place, and so on through the list.
  • The highest and lowest ratings for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) are removed. The team's rating will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the team appears on.
  • Teams that receive only one point on the ballot are not considered "receiving votes".
