Lexington, Ken. - A record number of volleyball programs earned the American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT. More than 1,400 collegiate and high school volleyball programs were recognized for their classroom excellence during the recently completed academic year.
The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Central Methodist Volleyball program earned the award from the AVCA.
This marks the eighth time in the last nine seasons that Central has earned the distinction, as they were recognized four straight years from 2016-2019, and now, four consecutive years from 2021-2024. As a team, the Eagles finished the year with a final team GPA of 3.51.
On the court, Central finished 2023-24 with an overall record of 22-11 and its sixth-straight trip to the NAIA National Tournament.
