Springfield, Mo. - The No. 20 Central Methodist Volleyball program completed the regular season sweep over Evangel, winning the match in four sets by scores of 25-23, 25-19, 18-25, and 25-20 Thursday night in Puckett Field House.
With the victory, Central improves to 19-7 and 12-6 in the Heart, while the Valor fall to 17-14 and 10-8 in conference action.
Sophomore middle hitter Delaney Miller led Central's offensive attack with 16 kills, just two off from her career high. The native of Buffalo, Mo. also tallied a team-leading seven blocks in addition to four digs.
Callie Henson also landed in double figures with 10 kills along with six digs and three blocks.
Senior setter Marina Alonso finished the evening with a team-high 23 assists. The São Paulo, Brazil native also tallied 11 digs to earn her fourth double-double of the season.
Fellow setter Gabi Owczarek also dished out double-digit assists with 18 paired with eight digs. Krystal Brauner led the defense with 31 digs in addition to five assists. Annabelle Maassen matched Owczarek with eight digs, followed by Shea Luby with seven.
Freshman middle hitter Joana Milho finished the evening with five blocks.
Despite hitting just .165, Central held Evangel to a .133 hitting percentage which included 32 attack errors. CMU also racked up 24 total blocks.
Central will conclude the regular season with a match against Missouri Valley College Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 7:00 p.m. in Marshall, Mo. The Eagles won the previous match between the two sides in straight-sets back on Sept. 27 in Fayette.
