Atchison, Kan. - The No. 20 Central Methodist Volleyball program secured the season-sweep over Benedictine College Friday night in Atchison, Kan.
The Eagles swept BC in straight-sets by scores of 25-13, 25-15, and 25-18. With the victory, Central improves to 16-7 and 9-6 in conference action, while Benedictine drops to 13-9 and 7-6 in Heart play.
CMU started out hot in set one, finishing with an even .500 hitting percentage on 19 kills. Central continued to cruise in the second set, hitting .481 while holding the Ravens to .000 hitting.
The Eagles closed out the match is set three, hitting .333 compared to .132 for Benedictine College.
The duo of Callie Henson and Delaney Miller led the offensive attack with 15 and 10 kills respectively, with both hitting over .500. Freshman Joana Milho was the most efficient hitter for Central, hitting .778 with seven kills on nine swings.
Annabelle Maassen and Shea Luby each recorded six kills.
Senior setter Marina Alonso finished the evening with 26 assists in addition to five digs and a service ace. Gabi Owczarek tallied 14 assists.
Krystal Brauner led the defense with 22 digs while Luby added 15.
Overall, Central hit .434 for the match while holding the Ravens to .105 with 19 attack errors. Miller concluded the night with a match-high three blocks. Luby, Henson, and Milho all picked up two blocks apiece.
Central will continue weekend road action against Baker University Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7:00 p.m. in Baldwin City, Kan. The Eagles won the first match between the two sides in straight sets back on Sept. 16.
