Fayette, Mo. - The No. 16 Central Methodist Volleyball program secured a three-set sweep over Graceland University in a Heart Cross Division matchup Thursday night inside Puckett Field House.
The Eagles swept the Yellowjackets by scores of 25-12, 25-10, and 25-21, improving their overall record to 14-6 and 7-5 in the Heart. Graceland now stands at 7-14, and 2-8 in conference action.
Central's offense started off fast, finishing the first set with a .464 hitting percentage, which included 15 kills.
The defense tightened up in set two, holding the Yellowjackets to a -.114 hitting percentage with eight attack errors.
Despite hitting .000 in set three, Central's defense held off a potential set three victory for Graceland, once again holding the Yellowjackets to a negative hitting percentage.
Callie Henson led the Central offense with 10 kills, in addition to four digs and three blocks. Freshman Gimena Dezeo added seven kills off the bench along with two digs and a block.
Delaney Miller followed with six kills and added a team-high four blocks. Senior setter Marina Alonso dished out a match-high 19 assists, while Gabi Owczarek tallied 11.
In addition, Alonso nearly secured a double-double with eight digs and notched two service aces.
Annabelle Maassen finished the evening with match-highs in both service aces (six) and digs (11). Krystal Brauner followed with 10 digs and Shea Luby eight.
Central concludes its three-match home stand against Peru State College for its annual Pink Out game Friday, Oct. 7 at 7:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
